Greeneville Police tell Radio Greeneville News one person was injured and another was hospitalized after a fight in the Greeneville Community Hospital Emergency Room last night. Around 8 o’clock, an altercation took place as family members began arriving to check on an elderly women who was being treated in the ER.
The ER nurse reported witnessing one man attack another. The two were only described on the Police report as “in-laws”.
David Lawson of Morristown is reported to have attacked Jonathan Southerland of Greeneville , grabbing him by the shirt collar , pushing him out of the patients room and against the nurses station. Witnesses say Lawson then placed both hands around Southerland’s neck and proceeded to choke him.
It took several nurses and EMS staff members to get Lawson to let go of the man’s neck.
Southerland was later admitted to the hospital.
Lawson was charged with aggravated (domestic) assault. He is due in court today.
