According to the National Weather Service, periods of snow showers will continue today and tonight across the higher elevations.
Some light snow accumulations will be possible above 3,000 ft., but total accumulations of up to 3 to 6 inches will be possible above 4,500 ft. Besides the periods of winter weather, wind chills will drop into the teens.
Snow showers continue above 3,000 ft. in northeast Tennessee through Friday afternoon. Some light additional accumulations will be possible above 4,500 feet. Freezing temperatures possible for much of the area Friday night.
In Southeast Greene County, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 5 AM on Friday. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce wind chills. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
