The scheduled matchup between Greeneville and Morristown West that was to be played on Friday, then temporarily canceled due to the postponement of the matchup between West and Daniel Boone has now been rescheduled to be played on Tuesday, September 19th at Burley Stadium with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
The Greeneville football team has dealt with scheduling and Mother Nature headaches this football season as they have only played two games to a conclusion with matchups with Dobyns-Bennett and Alcoa both ending prematurely due to lightning. The bad weather also caused issues with Morristown West and Daniel Boone last Friday resulting in the game being postponed to this coming Thursday.
Head coach Eddie Spradlen was not going to let another game get away and quickly did everything possible to either move the game or find a new opponent. The workaround will lead to Greeneville playing two football games in a span of four days as following the matchup with Morristown West on Tuesday, Greeneville will still play their scheduled matchup with at Volunteer on Friday, September 22nd.
Greeneville will spend the rest of this week preparing for two opponents at once as they will not play on Friday night, but the Greene Devils will look for a 2-0 week starting on Tuesday. Coverage of both Greeneville football games will be available on 99.5 FM WGRV and online at WGRV.com.
