Reconsideration to appoint someone for the Industrial Development Board of Greene County was tabled at the Greeneville City Council meeting yesterday.
Only one application was received this time around and no motion was made to fill that position. There was some concern that not everyone who previously applied was aware they needed to reapply for the vacancy spot, due to a few changes that were added onto the application.
The applicant must be qualified to vote in an election of the municipality and also own property. There was some confusion in the past meeting regarding what the qualifications were. Alderman Scott Bullington suggested the matter be tabled and for those who previously applied to be contacted and made aware of the new application having to be submitted. For questions on the application call 639-7105.
The board approved for Greeneville Energy Authority to officially start providing broadband services, they also approved the change in name of the Legion Field to the Buddy Hawk Field, special event requests to close Depot Street for the Barbecue, Bluegrass and Brew in August, and to close a portion of West Church Street for the 10th Anniversary of Lyrics on the Lawn in July.
Also approved was a special event sign request for the Independence Day Celebration held at Thrive Church on Rufe Taylor Road and the reappointment of Greeneville Energy Authority member Shane Hite for a five-year term.
