The Greeneville City Council met yesterday afternoon and with a motion from Alderman Tim Teague and a second from Alderman Scott Bullington, the council members did override Greeneville Mayor Cal Doty’s veto to appoint W.T. Daniels to the Greeneville Municipal Airport Authority.
With Alderwoman Kristin Girton unable to attend, the council including Alderwoman Ginny Kidwell agreed to override the veto, but Bullington suggested possibly adding two positions instead of one. He said he’s got a lot of emails and calls regarding the airport and knows a lot needs to be addressed. He’d like for City Manager Todd Smith to step up and be more involved with the progress at the airport moving forward.
Bullington said there needs to be a strong board and everyone should to get along. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and he stated it is broke, so we do need to fix it. City Manager Smith said if there was going to be in a change from 5 to 7 members in the authority board, that it would need to be amended in the charter.
Alderman Bullington also suggested that all City Board members need to attend 50% of the meetings. If members do not attend at least 50%, he suggested their position should become available.
