A Hamilton County, Tennessee man who used what one reporter called “his knack for forgery and his passion for gaming” to try and bilk esports investors of 42 million dollars was taken into custody in Greeneville Monday morning.
Authorities say now 25-year-old Joshua D. Mullins of Bloomington Springs, Tennessee was between ages 15 and 18 when is alleged to have run the schemes, promoting himself as a multi-billionaire investor.
He had been sentenced in Georgia in 2021 to 10 years in prison and five years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to 35 felony counts of second-degree forgery and identity fraud.
Radio Greeneville News has since learned this morning why Mullins was in Greene County. He was reporting in to the state probation office in Greeneville Monday since he was living here when the outstanding warrants were confirmed. He was taken into custody by Greeneville Police Officer Grayson Leake. Mullins is being held for Hamilton County law enforcement, where he is was wanted on four violation of probation warrants.
Mullins and his husband, Greene County Constable Matthew Brobeck were arrested October 7th on domestic assault charges following an altercation between the two at the Jeffries Lane home they shared. Charges against Brobeck were later dismissed, while the Mullins charge in that matter was sent to Criminal Court.
