Motorists traveling on I-40 and I-275 North in Knox County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have a temporary impact on traffic.
Beginning this evening (Sunday, June 22), several ramps to I-275 North in Knox County will be intermittently closed for short periods. This will allow crews to remove asbestos from the existing bridge and demolish the center median barrier wall/bridge deck in anticipation of the upcoming replacement of the bridges over Elm Street/Bernard Avenue in July.
- Those ramps are:
I-40 East to I-275 North (Exit 387A)
Henley Street to I-275 North
I-40 West to I-275 North (Exit 387A)
These ramp closures will be in place nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Friday, June 27.
This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
