A 9-1-1 call from the Greeneville Municipal Airport early Sunday afternoon of an unopened parachute and possible injuries was actually part of a regular activity in that area.
As it turned out, there was no emergency and no one was injured.
Jump Tennessee which is based at the airport, has an area setup there for parachutists to land. Michael Stevens told Radio Greeneville News apparently during a routine jump one of two chutes was cut away by the parachutist but the second one was deployed successfully.
However, the first one came down in view of witnesses at the airport, prompting the belief of a failed parachute jump and the call to 9-1-1 of the need for medical assistance. The emergency call was quickly retracted
Stevens says the experienced jumpers routinely jump during those days and invites the public to visit Jump Tennessee when they are open from 9 am until sunset Thursday through Saturday.
