The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who has been reported missing in the Stomper community off the Baileyton Road.
60-year-old Danny Smith was last seen around 11:00 PM Sunday at a residence in the 400 block of Mulberry Road. A person at the home woke up around 10:00 AM Monday and discovered Smith missing. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with a maroon short sleeve shirt over it and blue jeans. He is believed to have left on foot in an unknown direction of travel.
The family reported to the Sheriff’s Department that Smith is very forgetful and they believe he has Alzheimer’s.
The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad and the Debusk Rehab Unit joined in the search shortly after 4:00 PM Monday. K-9 units were also involved in the search. The Newmansville and United Volunteer Fire Department were also called to assist just before 5:00 PM.
