Initial projections indicated the Greene County Demolition Landfill would reach capacity in 2035, but Tony Morrison told the City Council Tuesday at the current pace, it will be full in three years or less from now.
Morrison, the manager of the demolition landfill, says while fifty tons of demolition waste was collected per day at one time, the landfill now at times reaches over 120 tons per day.
Using funds from the landfill fund, city council approved an estimated $155,000 for planning, testing and development of a 20 acre site on the north side of the property for a new demolition waste area.
LDA Engineering will handle design of the project which will take an estimated two to three years to complete
