The North Greene Huskies took the floor for the second consecutive year at the Murphy Center looking to take the next step towards a class 1A state title. Unfortunately, the Humbolt Vikings stood in their way and ended their 22 game win streak by a score of 54-35.
Things were back and forth in the first quarter until the Vikings settled for the 15-9 advantage and then stretched the lead to 31-21 at the half. Tyler Britton and Lance Carrico both scored 8 points apiece in the first half and looked to gather some momentum and gain ground as the game continued.
The Vikings continued their full court pressure, even on missed baskets, and took advantage of their quickness to outscore the Huskies in the paint 32-14 and pull away. Carrico, who was only able to manage 3 points in the second half finished the game with 11, while Britton finished with 10 and Thomas Darnell 8.
The Huskies season comes to an end with a 30-5 record, while Humbolt advances to the final four at 29-5.
