A man wanted on an active assault warrant is facing additional charges after fleeing from police early Sunday.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 500 block of Lawing Road in Chuckey shortly before 2:00 AM to the report of two vehicles that had slid into each other.
Joshua Jones of Laws Road said the other motorist called him for help after his vehicle got stuck in a ditch. Jones said while he was trying to help, his vehicle slid back and struck the other vehicle.
Deputies then discovered Jones had the active assault warrant and attempted to take him into custody. Jones reportedly took off running on the snow-covered road. He was tased twice, but threw his jacket off and continued running. Jones was then taken to the ground and restrained until backup arrived. He was eventually handcuffed and placed into the cruiser.
In addition to his active warrant, Jones faces charges of evading and resisting arrest.
