A 5-year-old boy was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center after his mother suffered an apparent medical emergency and crashed her vehicle while dropping him off at school.
Greeneville Police report the crash occurred shortly after 8 am Tuesday at Tusculum View Elementary.
The report said the woman was about to drop her son off at the school, but before the drop-off took place, she “suffered a medical emergency”, which caused the vehicle to accelerate quickly. The report said the vehicle then left the roadway and struck a parked pickup truck and a boat at a nearby residence before coming to a stop after striking a billboard support post.
Katlyn Bitner was taken by Greeneville/Greene County EMS to Greeneville Community Hospital. Her son was flown to the Medical Center via air rescue.
Condition updates on both were not listed on the report, although the report did state that both sustained non-incapacitating injuries.
