No lead has been found in Greeneville water lines according to the Greeneville Water Department, but notices sent to some customers did result in phone calls to the local utility.
Laura White, superintendent of the Greeneville Water Commission, says exposure notices about potential lead exposure were required to be sent when a service line that could result in elevated lead exposure is identified.
The notices inform the residents as a precaution that pipes servicing their home are made of either lead, or galvanized metal which may be downstream from of lead containing materials , or even an unknown material.
As of Monday, White says the department has not encountered any lead service lines in the system.
