Two DUI arrests were made by Greeneville police just ahead of the July 4 holiday.
On Wednesday night just before midnight, police were driving behind 33-year-old Sebastian Carter of Bailey Street near the intersection of Broyles Street and Housely Avenue. Carter stopped and put his hands out of the window, telling police that he stopped because he thought he was about to be pulled over. Carter was sweating profusely and admitted to smoking meth earlier in the evening. He was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Around 3:15 Thursday morning, police responded to the 1100 block of Tusculum Boulevard where a truck had wrecked off an embankment. Officers saw 41-year-old Carlos Ortiz Juarez of West Milligan Drive running from the scene and detained him, at which time he told inconsistent stories. Juarez refused sobriety tests due to admitting he was drunk, but was charged with violating implied consent and DUI second offense, along with leaving the scene of an accident.
