The Landfill and Greene County Convenient Centers continue to have expanded hours, and a debris collection has been established to help with cleanup from the winds and floods of Tropical Storm Helene.
Convenience centers will be open either two hours earlier than normal or two hours later, depending on their usual schedule. Centers that close at 4PM will be open until 6PM. Centers that open at 10AM will open at 8AM instead. All centers will be open on Saturdays from 8AM until 6PM. The extended hours will continue until November 2. Regular household garbage and recyclables should be taken to the convenient center.
The Greene County Landfill/Transfer Station will be open from 7AM until 3PM Monday through Friday. They will be open from 7AM until 12PM on Saturday through November 2.
While demolition waste can be brought to the landfill, the National Guard will be providing free curbside pickup for storm related debris. Any disaster related debris may be stacked within 10′ of the roadway and you may call 620-8482. The Tennessee National Guard will pick this debris up for free. Debris should be separated as much as possible. The National Guard will not be picking up normal household garbage. The county has constructed a debris site to deal with the massive amount of wood and trash that will have to be disposed of after the storms. No individuals are permitted to bring any waste to the debris site.
Construction waste and debris may not be taken to any convenience center.
