A woman from Maine was arrested Sunday for Driving Under the Influence after crashing into a light pole near West Main Street.
According to the report, officers responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Marshall Lane and West Main Street before 2 PM. They found a vehicle driven by Billie Lee Richards, which had crashed into a light pole. A witness told officers Richards swerved in front of their vehicle, causing them to hit her truck.
Richards was reportedly not responding to officers when they approached her and after gaining consciousness they assisted her out the truck. She had to crawl in the grass to a curb and reported her wrist was numb. EMS was called to the scene but medical treatment was allegedly denied.
An odor of alcohol was reportedly detected on the suspect and open containers of alcohol were also found in the vehicle. Richards admitted to drinking wine. She was arrested and charged with DUI, Due Care, and Open Container Law.
