An Asheville Highway woman reported she was swindled out of money while attempting to purchase a camper.
The victim told the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday she was supposed to buy a 30-foot pull behind camper from a man for $2,000. The victim made an agreement with the suspect to make payments and gave him $560 at the beginning of the month as the first payment. The victim later learned the suspect did not even own the camper.
According to the report, the suspect is now avoiding the victim and refusing to refund the money.
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
