Today is the start of early voting for the August 1 election.
On the ballot are primaries for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and State Representative. Municipal elections are also being held for mayor in Mosheim, Greeneville and Baileyton, along with alderman and city council seats in those municipalities. School board seats in both the city and county are also on the ballot.
Voters who have moved within the county or have had a name change since the last time they voted can update their registration online at GoVoteTN.com. By making sure registration is up to date, voters can shorten the time needed to spend at your polling location.
Tennesseans voting early or on Election Day should remember to bring valid photo identification with them to the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, by Tennessee state government or by the federal government are acceptable even if they are expired. College student IDs are not acceptable.
Early voting runs Monday through Saturday and ends Saturday, July 27 at the Greene County Election Commission, located at 311 CCU Boulevard. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM, and Saturday from 8:30 AM until noon.
