A Greene County business reported embezzlement Monday to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
The victims run a business that transports horses. In March, they sub-contacted out some transportation work to the suspect, which was the third time the victims had used the suspect to transport horses. The suspect was supposed to pick up one horse in Virginia and another in South Carolina for transport to a customer in Florida. One of the business owners went to Texas to pick up a third horse for the customer.
The total price for transporting the three horses was $2,600, with the suspect getting paid $1,350 for transporting two of them. The customer said she was requested to pay $2,600 to the suspect via PayPal. The victims said the business was supposed to get the money, then the suspect would get paid her share. She was not supposed to get any money directly.
The suspect reportedly kept the $1,250 that belongs to the business. The victims said she also kept two rope leads, two halters, and a business cell phone. No charges have been filed yet, according to the report.
