Greeneville Energy Authority is warning citizens of a scam.
Customers have reported receiving phone calls from someone claiming that energy bills have been overcharged. The scammer then asks for a debit or credit card number to get a refund.
These calls are not legitimate. Greeneville Energy Authority reminds customers that they never request debit or credit card information over the phone. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and do not give out any personal information.
