McDonald’s on Tusculum Boulevard officially closed on Sunday night.
Planning Administrator for the Town of Greeneville Randy Davenport warned us of the closing months ago but confirmed the closing on May 3rd. The business will begin construction on the building and will most likely be closed for the next three months. The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission made the final approval for the project, which includes a tear down and rebuild, back in November of 2023. The project was supposed to begin in April, so the work crew is not far behind with their goal to start on construction.
The site plan included the construction of an approximately 3,780-square-foot restaurant with 29 parking spaces on the existing site, two drive-thru lanes, and a slightly smaller building seating about 75 people. The entrance into McDonald’s will remain the same except the entry on Austin Street will be shifting slightly.
According to the Civil Engineer, some of the parking spots near the back of the restaurant will be removed and the sidewalk on Tusculum Boulevard will be replaced due to allegedly not being ADA compliant.
