A driver was charged with DUI and Felony Evading Arrest on the Newport Highway late Thursday night.
A Greeneville Police Officer observed a car speeding in a 30 mph zone on the Newport Highway. The officer activated emergency lights and sirens, however the vehicle failed to stop and kept accelerating. The vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch and came back upon the road where it came to a stop.
The driver, Randall Foss of Pates Lane, was arrested and transported to the Greene County Detention Center. Foss was given standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly. Foss was charged with Felony Evading Arrest, Driving Under the Influence, and Failure to Exercise Due Care.
