According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, a High Wind Warning will be in effect for Southeast Greene County from 8 PM this evening through 4 PM on Thursday.
A strong weather system will move across the region bringing strong southeast winds to the higher terrain of the East Tennessee Mountains. Winds of 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Other areas of the county may experience wind gusts up to 35 mph through Thursday afternoon. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.
The strong weather system will bring showers and thunderstorms across the area and some storms may become strong to severe Thursday. Localized flooding will also be possible especially in any areas that receive multiple rounds of heavy rainfall.
Gusty winds are likely for Thursday night and Friday behind the strong system, with gusts in excess of 40 mph possible, especially over the higher elevations.
