The Greene County Commission had a nearly three hour meeting yesterday where they gave final approval for the Opioid Abatement Council funds to be awarded to the Ballad Health – Strong Futures Program.
Strong Futures was given the first approval by the Budget and Finance Committee in their meeting earlier this month. This is the second round of Opioid Settlement funds released to Greene County from the Abatement Council in the amount of around $330,000. Last year the county received almost $334,000 and split the funds between Greene County Drug Court, the Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence Program (LEAD), the Greene County Anti-Drug Coalition, and Frontier Mental Health.
Opioid Settlement funds from the Abatement Council have to be used for remediation purposes such as prevention programs, services for pregnant and postpartum women, treatment for the incarcerated population, as well as medication assisted treatments, or other FDA approved drugs to reverse overdose.
