A cold front is approaching the East Tennessee Mountains and due to the recent rainfall, there’s potential for moderate to heavy rainfall and high winds to our region.
According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, the widespread rain will start tomorrow and continues through Thursday morning. Minor flooding issues will be possible mainly in low lying and flood prone areas. Rainfall totals for Greene County are expected to be 1-2 inches, depending on your location.
A High Wind Watch for the mountains of Southeast Greene County will be in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Winds of 20 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 70 miles per hour are expected in the mountains and adjacent foothills. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
