A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver, identified as Barton Smith of Fishpond Road, disregarded and began traveling at a higher rate of speed.
As the car approached the red light on East Andrew Johnson Highway and Industrial Road, Smith passed multiple vehicles in the turning lane and continued traveling eastbound on East Andrew Johnson Highway. The pursuit was then terminated.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department then located Smith and the pursued the vehicle until he came to stop in the 5400 block of Old Stage Road. Smith was taken into custody for felony evading, reckless driving and switched tags.
