Deputies were able to capture a man after he ran and hid from them Thursday night.
At 8:00 PM Thursday, Greene County deputies saw a white Chevrolet Malibu leave a driveway on the Old Knoxville Highway. After the driver apparently saw the police car behind him, he immediately turned into another driveway less than 100 yards down the road.
Another vehicle pulled alongside the police cruiser to report a white car that had been seen creeping around her property. The witness confirmed that the vehicle was the same, and officers went to the residence.
Deputies noticed a man move across the yard and into the house. The suspect was later identified as Bruce Whitley of Old Knoxville Highway. A records check showed Whitley had two active warrants.
Deputies were given permission to search the residence. Due to the suspect’s felony warrants, a K-9 officer was deployed.
The suspect jumped from a hiding spot within a storage area and dove through a window into the side yard and fled on foot. The suspect was found underneath the back porch of the neighboring residence and was pulled out by Deputies before he was taken into custody.
The suspect was transported to the GCDC where he was served with two active warrants for Violation of Probation and was also charged with Evading Arrest.
