A Ward Park woman reported a scam on Sunday after she recently applied for an online job.
The woman said she received a message from someone on Facebook about an online job opportunity. She replied she was interested.
The victim then started receiving text messages from someone who claimed to work for the company. The victim was asked to send funds for her work supplies, which she did through money transferring apps. She was also asked to buy multiple $50 Apple pay cards.
The victim then started receiving messages from someone claiming to be a FedEx driver for the company. The suspect told the victim he was driving from Arkansas and he was out of gas on the side of the road. He then told the victim she would have to send $400 to him via cash cards before he could deliver the package.
The victim filed a report with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department when she realized she was being scammed. She ended up sending $2,000 to the suspects, according to the report.
