Fire destroyed a mobile home at 2935 Chuckey Pike on Thursday afternoon.
The victims were inside around 4:00 PM when they heard a neighbor speed into the driveway, blowing the horn and screaming the home was on fire. They ran outside and discovered the roof and side of the residence were on fire.
A burn barrel was located approximately 20 yards from the residence with smoldering trash inside. Fire personnel said the barrel was already smoldering upon their arrival and they did not place any burning items inside.
According to the report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the home and all items inside were a total loss. An Acura that was in the back yard received heat and smoke damage as well.
