An arraignment has been set for Thursday, December 21st, 2023 for escapee, alleged rapist, and former Johnson City businessman Sean Williams, who was arrested in Florida November 21st after he escaped from Laurel County Detention deputies in October. He will go before the Magistrate Judge in Federal Court for his Second Superseding Indictment.
Williams has several charges including rape of a child, aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, distribution of Meth, and escape charges. That is not including charges he received in Florida, where he eventually got arrested after about a month long man hunt. Williams escaped from custody near West Summer Street on October 18th while being transported from the Laurel County, Kentucky Jail to the Federal Courthouse in Greeneville. He reportedly escaped a van by breaking out a window and fleeing on foot. Authorities noticed after arriving at the Courthouse.
Williams was originally in custody at the Washington County Detention Center because of a felony offense. He attempted to escape on July 23, 2023, according to the Superseding Indictment, and was then moved to the Laurel County Detention Facility pending the completion of his cases. The arraignment on Thursday will require Williams to be present and will also include a hearing for a motion that was filed by his legal counsel, who wants to withdraw from two of his cases.
Williams will appear in court at the Federal Courthouse in Greeneville at 2 PM, before Magistrate Judge Cynthia R. Wyrick.
