A Parrottsville man was arrested for First Degree Murder on Monday in connection with the death of his neighbor over the weekend.
TBI special agents joined the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday to investigate a fatal shooting in the 600 block of Baysinger Road in Parrottsville. Upon the arrival of deputies Sunday morning, 61-year-old Mark Burnham was found dead.
66-year-old David Kite Moore, the victim’s neighbor, was identified as the suspect. On Sunday afternoon, authorities obtained a warrant charging Moore with First Degree Murder. Initial attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
Moore was spotted by law enforcement on Monday morning traveling in the area of Industrial Road in Newport. After a brief pursuit, Moore crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Point Pleasant Road and Emanual Road. He was then taken into custody.
