Strong winds and rain are in the forecast for the area beginning Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a High Wind Watch for Southeast Greene County from late Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon.
Winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts up to 75 miles per hour are expected in the mountains and foothills. Lower elevations will have winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour by Wednesday, with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
A strong low pressure system will impact the area Tuesday night and Wednesday. A line of showers with moderate to heavy rainfall is expected Wednesday morning. Lingering precipitation is expected to change to snow late Wednesday night in the valley locations, but no accumulation is expected. In the mountains, light snow accumulations are possible Wednesday night through Thursday evening.
