Fire Departments were hard at work over the holiday weekend as multiple fires were reported, including a house fire on Christmas Day on the Erwin Highway.
Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department was called after a structure fire was reported on a home on the Erwin Highway just before 6:30 PM. Initial attempts by the department were unsuccessful and crews had to be pulled. Nolichuckey Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department, and the Newmansville Volunteer Fire Department all assisted when water had to be shuttled in with tankers from surrounding hydrant areas.
The fire was brought under control about 8 PM last night. According to Tusculum’s Fire Department’s Facebook Page, the South Greene Volunteer Fire Department was moved up into Tusculum’s station to provide coverage to the area while units were committed.
To coordinate all of these resources, the 9-1-1 dispatchers from Greene County and Washington County were instrumental in providing them.
Supporting the operation were the Greene County TN Sheriff’s Department, Greeneville/Greene County, TN Office of Emergency Management & HLS, Greene County EMS, American Red Cross of Tennessee, Greeneville Light & Power System, Debusk Volunteer Fire Department Station 22 rehab unit, Greene County Highway Department, Chaplain Danny Ricker, and TDOT.
