Area fire departments were kept busy yesterday responding to calls of sprinkler systems and fire suppression systems issues. Several businesses reported that once pipes began to thaw, leaks were discovered.
Publix, Car Smart on West Andrew Johnson Highway, and Forward Air were among those reporting issues. The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad and Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department were called to Durham Hensley Nursing Home in Limestone around 5:30 pm to the report of partial ceiling damageover three rooms. This due to a burst pipe. There were no injuries from the ceiling material, however two residents were taken to a hospital for evaluation. The pipe has since been repaired.
As temperatures warm into the 20s today, the public should be prepared for pipes that may have been frozen for the last two days to begin leaking. It would be a good i
