The Tusculum Planning Commission met yesterday evening and approved the request from Silicon Ranch solar farm to change the species on the landscaping plan and approved the addition of an asphalt apron on the highway access drive.
Emma Tillitski was there to represent the solar farm and told the planning commission nothing major was changing, there were just two small requests. The first request was due to the state requiring an apron to be added and included in the already approved site plan.
Tillitski said the project has two driveways and one was needed in order to give utility services like Greenville Energy Authority a driveway for point of interconnection. The second driveway is the main entrance and off Ball Road.
The second request was to have a species switch on their landscaping plan. According to her, the requested species are shorter than the original, but said these trees hit maturity faster and their max height would be 20 feet. She believes it will be bigger and bushier, as well as grow quicker. The amount of trees will be the same and part of the reason for the change is because their Landscaping Contractor can get his hands on these faster and the species previously were harder to source.
The planning commission approved those requests and made a motion to approve just the vegetation and apron on the driveway.
The commission also approved the combination plat for the Waddle property. The Board of Zoning Appeals met shortly after and approved the variance request for Lisa McCamey, to build a garage on her property.
