A man hanging Christmas decorations was rescued today when his bucket truck died, leaving him high above the ground with no way down.
The man, who was not identified, was hanging decorations on a building at the home of Phil and Martha Bachman, 1290 East Allen’s Bridge Road. The man was approximately 35′ off the ground in the bucket when the vehicle became disabled. Without the truck operating, the man had no way of safely making it back to the ground.
The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad responded just before noon, but did not have equipment that could reach the stranded man. The Greeneville Fire Department offered their assistance with a ladder truck and a longer extension ladder.
The man was able to climb safely down shortly after 1PM.
