A mountain biker with a broken ankle was brought to safety by volunteers from the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, Sheriff’s Department, and EMS on Wednesday.
Just before 3:00 PM, a woman riding with a group of bikers on Chad Road, off Hurricane Gap Road, was injured. She hurt her ankle while trying to navigate her mountain bike around a muddy area about 3.5 miles from Hurricane Gap Road.
Rescue Squad volunteers Gabbie Holt and Mike Johnson responded to the scene, while Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt brought an off-road utility vehicle. The Rescue Squad met the Sheriff’s Department at an area known as Courtland Place and transported two EMS paramedics to the patient around 4:45 PM.
EMS paramedics stabilized the patient and transported her to an awaiting ambulance at Courtland Place. They arrived at the ambulance just before 6:00 PM.
