Law enforcement members from Greene County were among those recognized at the annual Tennessee Narcotic Officers Association meeting last week.
This is the sixth award in the last seven years for the 3rd Judicial District Drug Task and Violent Crime Task Force. The recent award recognized the efforts of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Greeneville Police, Mosheim Police, and the District Attorney’s Office for their part in Operation Dusty Rhodes. That investigation resulted in significant seizures and arrests involving a Detroit, Michigan, drug trafficking organization involving methamphetamine. The local agencies assisted in the investigation and supplied resources including patrol units, detectives, and special operations teams during the investigation and prosecution of the case.
Accepting the award were Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt, Greeneville Assistant Police Chief Steve Hixson, and District Attorney Dan Armstrong. The award was presented at the yearly conference in Chattanooga in late November.
