A structure fire was reported Wednesday evening on the 600 block of Greene Ridge Loop, off of Greystone Road.
The structure was reportedly fully engulfed when fire fighters arrived on the scene. According to a report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner was making something to eat in the kitchen and then walked toward his bedroom to get ready for a shower. He then heard a loud pop coming from the kitchen area but stated he thought it was his dog that knocked something over. The victim shortly after noticed smoke coming from his kitchen.
The victim went to gather some items from his bedroom but ended up having to crawl on his hands and knees in order to get out of the front door. Greene County EMS responded to the scene but the victim allegedly refused to be transported.
Roads were closed in that area while the Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department, Nolichuckey Valley VFD, Limestone VFD, Camp Creek VFD, Debusk VFD (Rehab Unit), Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Greeneville Energy Authority, Chaplain Danny Ricker, American Red Cross of Tennessee, and dispatchers at Greene County 911 helped on the scene.
According to the Tusculum VFD, the Town of Mosheim VFD assisted with an air refill trailer and Mosheim VFD backfilled their station. Arson Investigator Deputy Bryan Shelton was called to the scene to investigate.
