A suspect running from police nearly hit a man walking a dog in an incident Sunday afternoon.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was working patrol around 5:00 PM and noticed a Nissan Altima parked in the middle of the road on Parton Loop. As the deputy approached, the vehicle traveled outbound on Parton Loop at a high rate of speed, almost hitting a man who was walking his dog. The car was found unoccupied on Jays Lane and the tag came back to Billy Stamper of Shakerag Road.
A short time later, Stamper was seen running behind a residence on Parton Loop. He was then taken into custody.
A search of the car produced baggies of meth and marijuana, empty baggies, and items of drug paraphernalia.
Stamper was charged with possession of schedule 2 and 6 drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest ,and felony reckless endangerment.
