Greene County and Greeneville City Schools are preparing an updated math curriculum this school year.
Every year, six school subjects on a rotation change their academic standards. The subjects include math, science, social studies, and English language arts (ELA).
An input period was put into place, allowing public review and feedback. The window was open from November to December of 2019, with 33,382 responses, according to the Tennessee Board of Education.
The State Board of Education made the final approval for a revision of the Tennessee Mathematics textbook in February 2021.
The new curriculum will reportedly allow students to complete schoolwork on a laptop at almost any location.
The new standards will go into effect for all grades this school year and will be re-revised beginning in the fall of 2026. Next year’s revisions will be for science, and the 2025-2026 school year revises social studies.
The first full day of school for Greeneville and Greene County is this Friday, August 4th.
