Jarrell D. Miller

Jarrell D. Miller

Jarrell D. Miller went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Jarrell was born in Kingsport, TN, on May 6, 1944, but had lived in the Greeneville, TN, area since 1967. He graduated from Lynn View High School in Kingsport and Drafting School in Nashville, TN. In his younger years, he was always learning how things worked by taking them apart and putting them back together, being mechanically minded and fixing things that didn’t work. He worked for several years as a draftsman and was employed a second time at Formex Company in Greeneville. He continued working there through several transitions and became the Maintenance Manager until the closing in 2004. He was instrumental in a major project disassembling the large looms for the company to ship overseas after the closing. He created a new, shorter career in real estate with Century 21 in Greeneville. This led to him selling the facility he worked in for so many years.

Jarrell was a member of First Baptist Church in Greeneville and was a very devoted husband of 60 years to Barbara Jane Miller, who preceded him in death early last year. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Cora Nell Miller.

Jarrell was always quick to laugh and enjoy his family. In his younger years, he played in a golf and bowling league and enjoyed square dancing with Jane. He was an avid UT fan and loved going to the football games, taking various family members with him. He was always active in his girls’ sports and other activities and enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was known to really cook up some good hamburgers and pork chops on the grill.

Jarrell is survived by his two daughters, Karen Sartain (Steve) and Susan Yost (Alan); grandchildren: Cameron Chapman (Abby), Brooklyn Hall, Zayden Yost, Keaton Yost (Samantha), and Kameron Yost (May Murphree); great-grandchildren: Cayden and Cooper Chapman, Olivia Yost, and Denver Yost; brother, Ed Miller (Brenda); sister, Barbara Conner (Steve); nieces: Lee-Anna Thomas (Rocky) and Christina McClain (Rick); nephew, Nathan Miller (Ashley), and their children: Presley, Derek, Riddik, Eli, and Jon; and several cousins and other extended family and friends.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Jeffers Funeral Home Chapel in Afton, TN. Burial will follow immediately at Graceland Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Clay Wilkerson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Cameron Chapman, Ed Miller, Alan Yost, Keaton Yost, Kameron Yost, and Steven Sartain.
