The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported Thursday afternoon that the state’s unemployment rate for August was 3.6 percent, unchanged from the July rate.
Between July and August, total nonfarm employment in Tennessee increased by 9,500 jobs.
Tennessee’s unemployment rate in August 2024 was also 3.6 percent. Over the past year, employers added 34,400 jobs across the state.
The unemployment rate for Tennessee continues to track well below the national rate, which was 4.3 percent in August 2025.
