A Cessna single engine airplane made an unplanned landing at the Greeneville Municipal Airport after experiencing engine issues today around 12:15 PM.
The plane was en route from Wisconsin to Key West with four passengers on-board when the pilot said the turbo for the engine malfunctioned. That malfunction reportedly produced smoke and required that the plane land as quickly as possible. There were no injuries and the plane was able to land safely and taxi to the hanger area.
The pilot and technicians at the airport were working on the engine to see if it could be quickly repaired. The passenger told Radio Greeneville that she and her children were going to take a taxi to another airport where they would rent a car to continue their trip.
The Greeneville Fire Department responded to the scene.
