DAVID BEVERLY COMMENTS
“My name’s David Beverly. I’ve been thinking about this for the past year, probably since the sheriff kind of let me in on his thoughts of retiring about a year ago. If you know me, I’ve been coming here to your meeting since 2022, right before that primary election. It’s great to be here. It’s great to be a Republican. I’ve worked 28 years at the Sheriff’s Office. The last seven years of that I have been the Chief Deputy for Sheriff Holt. He’s taught me a lot. I enjoy serving this county, and I still have service to do. Tonight’s announcement, I couldn’t think of a better place to do this but here to make it public. I will be running for Sheriff in 2026. I have big shoes to fill but he’s taught me very well. The mentors I had at the Sheriff’s Department coming through from corrections all the way to now Chief Deputy have been just great. And I’d like to keep carrying it on. I’d also like to go ahead and give the Republican Party a donation making my announcement to run for Sheriff. And I thank Tom for allowing me to do this tonight here at the meeting. I couldn’t think of a better place, I appreciate your support. I appreciate your blessings and I’ll see you all in 2026. Thank you.”
