A chemical spill involving 250 gallons of a sodium hydroxide solution occurred at John Deere on Hal Henard Road around 11:15 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The substance had leaked from a punctured tote while still secured on a docked trailer.
Multiple agencies responded swiftly to contain and manage the spill, including Greeneville Fire and Hazmat, Greeneville Police Department, Public Works, and the Emergency Management Agency. Cleanup was overseen by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Universal Environmental Services, and Clean Harbors Environmental. Greene County EMS remained on standby throughout the incident.
No injuries were reported and the spill was safely contained without further incident.
