The Greene County Commission will meet this evening and will discuss proclamations, will hold a public hearing continuing the discussion on Greene County Constables, and will consider approving several resolutions.
Proclamations to be discussed include declaring Severe Weather Awareness Day on February 24, and Severe Weather Awareness Week February 25-March 2, declaring March 10 as Greene County’s Day of Hope, declaring March 21 as World Down Syndrome Day, declaring National Agricultural Day on March 21, National Agricultural Week, March 17-23, and declaring Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Awareness Month in March 2024.
Resolutions to be discussed include the consideration to abolish the Office of Constable in Greene County and approval to appropriate funds totaling more than $385,000 from Solid Waste Funds for the purchase of equipment and increased labor costs.
Also to be considered for approval is amended policies and procedures for the Greene County Purchasing Department’s Internal Control Assessment, appropriation of funds for Drug Recovery Court as contributions from Recovery Court graduates, and funds to the Sheriff’s Department from contributions and sale of recycled materials.
Furthermore, the county commission will discuss appropriating $61,000 in collections from the Title and Registration Fees for the addition of a full time clerical position. The meeting will be held at 6 PM tonight at the Greene County Courthouse located on South Main Street.
