The Greene County Board of Education received an update on the CTE construction projects at West Greene and Chuckey-Doak High Schools.
Architect Dave Wright said that the project at West Greene is currently running on schedule, with painting and HVAC work underway.
Wright added that the work at Chuckey-Doak has been a bit delayed. Crews are still setting steel and they need to have the building dried in by October, but he still thinks the building will be open to students by January.
Board members will plan a date in October to tour the ongoing work at Chuckey-Doak, after having toured the West Greene project during the August board meeting.
A bid for a new greenhouse at Chuckey-Doak High School was rejected by the board during Thursday’s meeting, while bids were approved for greenhouses at North and South Greene.
At the recommendation of director of schools Dr. Chris Malone, the board declined the bid of $246,200 from Skilled Services in Knoxville for the greenhouse at Chuckey-Doak High School. The project will be re-bid.
The greenhouses at North Greene and South Greene were approved at a total cost of $83,440 for both structures from a bid by C+C Millwright.
