A woman and her son were arrested early Saturday morning following a disturbance at a Greeneville restaurant.
Greeneville police were called to Applebees around 11:15 Friday night and were told that a woman had been harassing multiple customers and became very confrontational with one customer who spoke up about her actions. The woman and her son had left by the time police arrived at the restaurant, but their car was located on the East Andrew Johnson Highway.
The son, who was driving the car, was identified as 21-year-old Dominic Cates of Jonesborough. He told police that his mother, 40-year-old Jessica Lotz-Lavery of Chuckey, had jumped out of the vehicle near Fast Pace Urgent Care. Lavery was found without shoes and a strong odor of alcohol, and was charged with public intoxication.
Cates told police he had just one beer, but performed poorly on all sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence. Both Lavery and Cates were taken to the Greene County Detention Center.
